Senior BAS Accountant / Assistant Manager

Unlock Your Potential with Andersen

Are you ready to take your career to the next level with a fast growing, high energy advisory firm — and deepen your expertise in IFRS based financial reporting?

At Andersen, we’re not here to follow the status quo. We’re here to lead, challenge, and make an impact. As our client base continues to grow in scale and complexity, we’re seeking a Senior BAS Accountant with IFRS experience who is ready to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality financial reporting and advisory outcomes.

We are an ambitious and evolving firm, delivering bold, forward-thinking solutions across business advisory, tax, corporate finance, and management accounting services. Our clients range from dynamic startups to established, complex enterprises — many of whom require robust IFRS compliant financial reporting and technical accounting support.

The Role

As a Senior BAS Accountant at Andersen, you will be involved in IFRS based financial reporting engagements, working closely with clients and senior leaders to ensure accuracy, compliance, and commercial insight. You’ll be trusted to lead complex work, provide technical guidance, and support the development of others — while continuing to build deep, trusted client relationships.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys technical accounting, thrives on responsibility, and wants exposure to more complex reporting environments than traditional compliance roles.

Senior Accountants can expect to:

  • Take ownership of financial reporting, IFRS compliance, and tax obligations for a diverse client base.
  • Provide insights and strategic advice to clients on financial performance and business improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring seamless communication and top-tier service.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and support junior and intermediate accountants, fostering professional growth.
  • Monitor and prioritise workflow to meet deadlines and exceed client expectations.
  • Lead and contribute to internal projects that enhance firm-wide systems, productivity, and client experience.
  • Drive continuous learning and innovation, staying ahead of industry and legislative changes.
  • Lead IFRS compliant financial reporting engagements, including preparation and review of financial statements for a diverse client base.
  • Apply and interpret NZ IFRS and relevant reporting frameworks, providing clear technical guidance to clients and internal teams.
  • Manage tax compliance obligations alongside IFRS based reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and support junior and intermediate accountants, particularly in financial reporting and IFRS fundamentals.
  • Monitor and prioritise workflow to meet deadlines and maintain high technical standards.
  • Contribute to internal projects that enhance financial reporting quality, systems, and firm wide capability.
  • Stay ahead of accounting, IFRS, and legislative developments, promoting continuous learning and best practice.

What we're looking for:

  • 4–8 years’ experience in an accounting practice, with demonstrated exposure to financial reporting. Will consider candidates seeking Assistant Manager level.
  • Strong practical experience with IFRS / NZ IFRS, including preparation or review of IFRS compliant financial statements.
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Confidence interpreting and applying accounting standards in real world client scenarios.
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering high-quality financial services.
  • A proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong technical capability, with the ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in New Zealand on a full-time basis (citizen, resident, or valid work visa).

Why Andersen?

At Andersen, we’re building something special — a firm where technical excellence, commercial thinking, and people development go hand in hand. You’ll work alongside a high performing leadership team, gain exposure to complex and interesting clients, and have the opportunity to grow your IFRS capability as your career accelerates.

The challenge is here. The growth is real. The time is now.
Join Andersen and contribute to something bigger.
